New Residents
We are pleased to welcome the following new residents:
- Peter Caldwell moved here from Sandy Springs. He has five children and two grandchildren. His occupation was engineer. He is in apartment 327.
- Marsha Greene moved here from Marietta. She has four children and seven grandchildren. She was a teacher and business owner. Her interests are art, reading, and pets. She is in apartment 334.
- Rita Haas moved here from Greensboro, Georgia. She has two children and four grandchildren. She was an executive assistant. Her interests are gardening and bridge. She is in apartment 453.
- Margie Feldman was a college instructor and CFO. She is interested in the arts. She is in apartment 557.

- Nancy Halliwell moved here from Corning, New York. She has two children and six grandchildren. Her interests are art, nature, and cooking. She was an art consultant and art dealer. She is in apartment 451.
- Sybil Lagravinese moved here from Boca Raton, Florida. She owned a stationery store. Her interests are puzzles, cards, and old movies. She is in apartment 105.
- Doris Kaye has lived in Flushing, New York, and Greensboro, North Carolina. She was a model. Her interests are games, movies, and knitting. She is in apartment 103.
- Mel and Bunny Maran moved here from Boynton Beach, Florida. They have two children, five grandchildren, and three greatgrandchildren. Mel was a movie distributor and Bunny was a kindergarten teacher. Their interests are art, books, canasta, sports, and movies. They are in apartment 517.
- Lynn Parker McCoy has three stepchildren and five stepgrandchildren. Her interests are gardening, hiking, reading, and photography. She worked as a manager. She is in apartment 145
- Julia McDonald moved here from Atlanta. She has two children and two grandchildren. Her interests are international travel, the Atlanta Braves, and the Atlanta Hawks. She was a third grade teacher. She is in apartment 663.
- Jill Sellers moved here from Alpharetta. She has two children and two grandchildren. She was a kindergarten teacher. Her interests are music, theatre, knitting, movies, French, travel, and chair yoga. She is in apartment 222.
- Susan Smith moved here from Powder Springs. She has two children, seven grandchildren, and three greatgrandchildren. She was an artist and teacher. Her interests are painting, gardening, and reading. She is in apartment 165.
- Lily Young moved here from Las Vegas, Nevada. She has two children and five grandchildren. Her interests are HGTV, Candy Crush, Asian movies, and soap operas. She is in apartment 525.

Sad News
We are saddened to report that Bob Hart died on July 10. He is survived by his wife, Val. Val recently moved into apartment 325.
New Residents
Hal Parker moved here from Boynton Beach, Florida. He has two children and two grandchildren. His interests are family, socializing, sporting events, wine, walking, theater, music, and singing. His occupation was teaching and tracking attendance, and he owned a night club. He is in apartment 665.
Marcia Swanson moved here from Baraboo, Wisconsin. She has two children and five grandchildren. Her interests are reading, short trips, gardening, and music. Her previous occupation was as a registered nurse. She is in apartment 352.
Departure
Gladys Manheim has moved to Canton, Georgia. She was in apartment 658.
Sad News
We are sad to report the death of Doris Dubinsky on June 10, 2021. Click here for her obituary. Doris was in apartment 359.
Report by Lisa
Lisa Schilling gave the following report on June 3, 2021:
- Eight-nine percent of team members have been vaccinated for Covid-19. All team members have been told to be vaccinated by July 31. All caregivers have also been told to be vaccinated by that date.
- All residents are asked to continue to check in at the front desk (in person or by telephone) daily.
- All visitors must be masked.
- It is planned to make the guest apartments available beginning June 19.
- Several staff members have been hired and more are on the way.
- New chairs and tables for the dining room have been ordered.
- There is no age limit on visitors, as such, but since the vaccine hasn't been approved for young children, they will be unable to visit at this time.
- Management is aware of the problem with the south garage door, and repairs will be made as soon as possible.
Thanking our Staff
The residents association, at the meeting on June 3, approved a plan to show our appreciation to the staff for their extra efforts durinng the pandemic by providing a free lunch, catered by the Varsity. All residents are requested to donate $20.00 per person to support this show of appreciation. Cash or checks made out to "HRSA" may be placed in the HRSA box in the postal area.

- Dawn Hamer moved here from Chamblee, Georgia. She has one child and one grandchild. She was an elementary school teacher for 36 years. Her interests are music, reading, and watching sports. She is in apartment 431.
- Kathleen Pringle moved here from Atlanta. She was a Yoga instructor. Her interests are reading and yoga. She is in apartment 232.
- Norton and Eve Schneps moved here from Dunwoody. They have two children, 13 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Norton was a Certified Public Accountant, and Eve was a teacher. Their interests are reading and book club, sports, and trivia. They are in apartment 114.

- Norman Unger on May 23, 2021. He was in apartment 619.
- Rita Alexander on May 17, 2021. She was in apartment 649.

- Sara Merriman has two children, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Her interests are reading, games, and walking. Her occupation was executive director, including being executive director at Huntcliff Summit at one point. She lives in apartment 151.
- Dee Robbins moved here from Atlanta, Georgia. Her interests are church, reading, and music. Her occupation was executive assistant. She lives in apartment 153
- Brandt and Ginny Ross moved here from New Jersey. They have three children and six grandchildren. Their interests are history, folk music, baseball, creative crafts, sewing, knitting, and reading. Brandt was a CEO and an investment banker. He is a singer and story-teller. Ginny was an operating room nurse. They live in apartment 543.
- Ronald Szymonik moved here from St. Charles, Missouri. He has two children and five grandchildren. His interest is fishing. His occupation was credit officer and manager of an accounting department. He lives in apartment 109.
- Some rules have changed. See the current rules on the information page.
- 100 percent of current residents have been vaccinated for Covid-19.
- 74.9 percent of team members have been vaccinated for Covid-19. Being vaccinated will be a condition of employment.
- New washing machines have been ordered for floors 1, 3, and 5.
- The main cooler/freezer in the kitchen is being replaced. This will require some changes in menus during the installation.
- I-pads are avaliable for loan to residents. It is anticipated that they will be used for Facetime or other tools to visit with family.

- Gerson and Wilma Asreal moved here from Charlotte, North Carolina. He was a urologist, and she was an occupational therapist and a relationship therapist. He enjoys golf, classical music, and reading. She enjoys ceramics, knitting, cooking, and reading. The have four children and seven grandchildren. They are in apartment 429.
- Tom and Julie Bakke moved here from Sandy Springs, Georgia. They have seven children and twelve grandchildren. Their interests are dining out, vacation travel, and reading. Tom was a vice president of manufacturing, and Julie was a salesperson. Their intereests are travel, swimming, and reading. They are in apartment 422.
- Evelyn Childers is in apartment 535.
- Jack and Sonia Balakirsky are originally from Brooklyn, New York, and moved here from Potomac, Maryland. They have two children and five grandchildren. Jack is interested in world events, physical fitness, and pinochle. Sonia is interest in Royal Doulton ceramic flowers and Waterford crystal clocks. Jack was a mathematician at the NASA Goddard Spce Flight Center, where he was part of the team that landed a man on the moon and brought him safely back to Earth. Sonia was an administrative assistant at the National Institutes of Health. They are in apartment 562.
- Glen and Martha Edgerton moved here from Raleigh, North Carolina. They are both former pastors. They have four children and eight grandchildren. Their interests are reading, Bible study, swimming, and small group discussion. They are in apartment 427.
- Frances Little moved here from North Druid Hills. She has three children. She has been a membership director, a marketer, and an executive director. Her interests are flower arranging and sewing. She is in apartment 443.
- Bill and Gail Long moved here from Sandy Springs, Georgia. They have five children and five grandchildren. Their interests are photography, gardening, and architecture. Bill worked for IBM in sales and marketing. Gail worked in interior design. They are in apartment 158.
- Charles Love moved here from Marietta, Georgia. He has two children and four grandchildren. His interests are golf, bingo, church, Bible study, and veterans affairs. He was an IBM personnel manager. He is in apartment 521.
- Eddie and Dale Manning moved here from Dunwoody, Georgia. They have two children and five grandchildren. Their interests are reading, Mahjong, knitting, and crossword puzzles. Dale was a teacher and a clothing salesperson. They are in apartment 518.
- Jim Masak and Barbara Schneider moved here from Sandy Springs, Georgia. They have four children and eight grandchildren. Jim was a manager of customer service with Sprint. They are in apartment 163.
- Dick Murray moved here from Sarasota, Florida He was an automotive executive. His interests are reading, travel, and cards. He is in apartment 108.
- Marie Robertson moved here from the Perimeter Center area. She has been a teacher, an owner of a ceramic studio, a career counsellor, and an outplacement consultant. Her interests are reaing, Tai Chi, walking, live theatre, and baseball. She is in apartment 565.
- Ron Szymonik is from Chicago, Illinois. He has two sons and five grandchildren. He used to coach baseball. He enjoys fishing and volleyball.
- Dot Templeton moved here from Signal Mountain, Tennessee. She has four children and seven grandchildren. She was an art teacher. Her interests are reading, painting, embroidery, and knitting. She is in apartment 331.
- Alan Vinson moved here from Sandy Springs, Georgia. He was a business owner. His interests are golf, jazz, and photography. He is in apartment 236.
- Marie Robertson lives in apartment 565.
- Paul Eliot lives in apartment 157. He moved from Huntcliff Summit II, right next door. His occupation was chemical sales. His interests are reading, walking, golf, and kayaking.
- Lisle and Betty Kruger moved from Amherst, Massachusetts.
- Bob and Valerie Hart live in apartment 318. They moved here form Aiken, South Carolina. They have two children and five grandchildren. Bob was a teacher and college professor, with a doctorate in English Literature. Valerie was a teacher, drama coach, and school media specialist. They love traveling and cruises
- Evelyn Childers lives in apartemt 535. She moved here from Kansas City. She has two children, one grandchild, and one great-grandchild. She is a former Miss Alabama. She has worked as a real estate agent, and she loves to read.
- Linda Higgins moved here from Marietta, Georgia. She has one child and two grandchildren. She has been a zoo docent and was a volunteer of the year in Mississippi. She likes card games, golf, reading, and water aerobics. She is in apartment 149.
- Lyle and Betty Craker live in apartment 135. They moved here from Amherst, Massachuseetts, and were both born in Wisconsin. They have three children and four grandchildren. Lyle was a professor of plant science and soils, and had a business degree. He likes nature-related activities, animals, and travel.
- Robert and Claudia Weeder live in apartment 615. They have two children and two grandchildren. She is from Selma, Alabama, and attended the University of Alabama.
